Our planet is overheating at a dizzying pace: the consequences are already visible to all and ignoring the problem is no more an option.
According to the Paris Agreement in 2015, the 197 countries member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have committed themselves in containing the increase of the average global temperature within the threshold of 1.5° C. However, everyone’s commitment is required to reach this ambitious goal, and MTH has decided to implement several solutions aimed to contribute to the reduction of our environmental impact.
What have we done so far?
The first step was to optimize the consumption of refrigerating systems thanks to an increasing use of highly efficient and energy-saving components, such as electronic fans that, for the same performance, guarantee extremely low consumption. We also developed a new range of small, high-performance refrigeration systems, such as the new compact monoblock for refrigerated cabinets (MTA Compact).
We have also been forerunners in the transition to new natural refrigerant gases such as R290 which, with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 3, has a reduced environmental impact and improved energy efficiency.
Sustainability also involves the choice of the energy sources used to make our products: hence, we have chosen to invest in renewable energy by installing a new photovoltaic system in the Almese plant, able to supply the electricity needed for the factory and the offices.
Moreover, we have implemented green solutions regarding the materials we work with every day, using a more sustainable polyurethane foam, free of R452 gas (one of the fluorinated gases that contribute to cause the greenhouse effect) and making the way packaging is disposed of even more transparent.
